Fårösund's South Battery

After the Crimean war 1854-1856 Sweden's capacity to defend its neutrality was questioned because British and French naval forces used Fårösund as a harbor. As a way to convince Sweden's determination to defend its territory to prevent repetition three fortresses were built 1885-86 to defend Fårösund. This is the South or Battery III. Batteries I and II were both modernized for both WW1 and WW2 but this battery is almost entirely unchanged.
